Apple’s Top 10 Games of 2016

With December in full swing and the new year around the corner, Apple felt it was a good time to recap the year in mobile games with a top ten released this year. The number one on the list can only really go to Clash Royale, as it sits consistently at the top of the grossing charts every week.

There are other notable games occupying the list, such as Plants vs Zombies Heroes and FIFA, but the rest are fairly unique choices. The Trail, which we covered on the release date two weeks ago, is on the list despite being around for less than a month. It goes to show you that if Apple plays favor toward your game, you can drive many more downloads by being featured on their many lists in the store.

What games are on your top 10 for 2016?

Until next time,
Peter

Plantera

VaragtP Studios AB

Why Play? Plantera is an adorable take on the tapper style of game that seems to have flooded the market these days. It’s got a unique twist that takes it back to the Cookie Clicker roots in that it’s not a combat game. It’s a rather soothing farm tapper theme with light monetization, great animation and a pleasing aesthetic style.

Fantastic Beasts: Cases from the Wizarding World

Warner Bros.

Why Play?  Fantastic Beasts is a Hidden Object / Mystery / Adventure game set in the Harry Potter Universe. The marriage of genre and theme work quite nicely, and the typical hidden-object gameplay is bolstered by a mysterious plotline, a variety of mini-games and characters, and plenty of music from the films. The game has an interesting progression system as well as some light social features.  Hidden Object fans should take it for a spin!
